Three P's in a Pod: I am Decidedly Keen on KEEN! Review & GIVEAWAY
01 December 2008
I am Decidedly Keen on KEEN! Review & GIVEAWAY
keen 1 (kn)adj. keen·er, keen·est
1. Having a fine, sharp cutting edge or point.

That definition describes KEEN Footwear to a T. They are on the cutting edge of what they now call HybridLife - a life where you Create, Play and Care and their footwear helps you do it all. A company that began only 5 years ago, KEEN started with the goal of providing a sandal that can protect toes...people right after my own heart! I would live in sandals if I could and now that I know so much about them, I just might be able to.:)
Since that time, KEEN has progressed, changed and evolved to provide all of the unique products they have in their lineup today. Until recently, KEEN Footwear was only available through specialty retailers like REI. Now, KEEN has brought you the ability to shop directly from them, right in the comfort of your own home.

KEEN has an amazing selection of quality products that included shoes, sandals, and boots for men, women, and children, computer bags, stylish handbags, and yes, even socks. Their HYBRID Approach is all about your shoes and clothing being able to take you wherever you want to be - indoors or out - to work, play and live.

Now, I have yet to have the experience of wearing one of their products but several of my friends have and they would not give them up for anything. But I immediately fell head-over-heels in love with KEEN when I read about what they have done for the children in China. The generosity they have shown to the children there who are so close to my heart, falls right in line with their commitment to social and environmental causes. They have put their money where their mouth is by working to become accredited by the Fair Labor Association, creating boxes that use biodegradable materials, natural water-based latex glue, soy-based inks, and weigh 25% less than their old boxes and a myriad of other things that help them make a difference. My hat is off to them is a HUGE way.

So now the Holidays are upon us and the economy is struggling. KEEN is interested in helping you with that too. From now through December 8th, they are offering FREE shipping on all order! Just use the code THREEPEAS when you check out.

My husband desperately needs new shoes and he likes to wear them for years before replacing them. Keen's quality is perfect for him and their styles are something he would love too.

I would love to win the TARGHEE II MID for him!

I think the 1KG thing is awesome. I actually grew up in Hong Kong/China, and my inlaws still live there. (We were missionaries.) I think if I was going to join hands with 1KG I'd work to help take stuff over for them when I go to visit my inlaws in China.

Thanks!

I'm so impressed with what I watched in the 1KG More video on their site. It's amazing how much those children were willing to do in order to go to school (hiking through the mountains and woods with only slippers or no shoes). And they were so thrilled to have gotten new shoes (and lollipops!) at the end.

Unfortunately I am not traveling to China, but by buying Keen products, in a way I would be supporting this program. I suppose that I could also mail items to schools in China directly, although I am not sure that they'd actually get there.

Wow! The 1kg more program is very neat! My inlaws just came back from China and were really surprised to see the disparity there. I can't send stuff to China, but I did just donate about 30 KG of books to Uganda. We have so much, and they have so little.

i checked out Keens page on their trip to China. Watched the video also. I think it is great what they are doing. I may sound silly... but how much is 1Kg of school supplies? I am sure it sounds like more that what it really is. It is a great project, but I don't know how someone like me would be able to help. I don't travel. Think it would be great if when you purchased a pair of their shoes, you could add school supplies to your shopping cart for them.

I saw on KEEN Footwear's site that they offer a wallet at the bottom of their home page. 100% of all proceeds from the sale of these wallets are donated to 1KG more. For only $10, it would make a great Christmas gift and would benefit the program at the same time. For those of us who won't be traveling to China anytime soon, if ever, this would be an easy way to help!
