Margie's Cyber Shower Starts TODAY! Come Play!

Don't forget!! Today is the day that Pam over at Happy Panda will begin hostessing a baby shower for mama-to-be Margie of Chesapeake Ribbons fame. The shower will run from April 28th thru May 2nd, all online. There is lots of fun to be had including games and prizes for attendees so come join in the fun while we welcome Margie's new angel to the world! She does not know if she is having a boy or a girl so it will be fun to find out.

They have some very fun games going.

The first game is a guess how many jelly beans in the bottle game. My guess? 93 :)

For the next game, they want to see our best baby bump. Well, here is mine, the day I went to the hospital with P2, all 38 weeks gestation of me.
The 3rd game is about how many diapers are in the beautiful diaper cake Margie received. I say 54.

For the 4th game, they wanted to hear my delivery story. However, before I can talk about that, you need to know that my hubby and I had been struggling with infertility for at least 8 years before this. We'd had loads of fun being lab rats as we tried to work through it until we had finally decided we wanted to adopt and we were blessed with our first daughter, P1 through domestic adoption at birth. She was wonderfully perfect and we were in awe of our good fortune. After she had been in our arms 6 months, everything was finalized in court and she was ours forever. Shortly after that we decided it was time to get back on the infertility wagon and were getting ready for our next round of injections when lo and behold, I turned up pregnant with P2.

The pregnancy was perfect, without a single problem until about 36 weeks when I got admitted overnight for observation due to my blood pressure and then sent home on bed rest. At 38 weeks, my MD wanted her out so I was admitted to be induced. That was Monday, Dec 16th. The next 36 hours are kind of a blur.

They prepped me and hooked me up to the Pitocin. Okay, I was good because I was having a baby. The nurses did not really like my doctor so they tried to do things differently than what he had told me, which was a little frustrating but we got it all smoothed out. Every so often they would check me and report on my slow progress. But I was okay because I was having a baby. Contractions were fun - Not. This went on for 24 hours. At some point in all of that, they started my Epidural and I fell madly in love with my Ether Bunny(anesthesiologist). Tuesday evening, my MD decreed (and I quote), "You have a miserable cervix"! "Thank you", I said. And I was happy because I was having a baby. He then broke my water and said that if I had not made significant progress by morning, we would need to have a c-section. (This is the abridged version) And I was happy because I was having a baby. So, morning came and I believe I had arrived at an exciting 4cm, 50% effaced so a c-section it was.

My hubby is not a medically inclined soul and is rather squeamish when it comes to blood and guts and all so it had been agreed that my Mom would go with me into the OR and Brett would wait until we came out. And I was happy because I was having a baby. So my beloved Ether Bunny, my MD, my friend the RN and several others joined my Mom and I and brought P2 into this world at 9:04am on Wednesday, Dec.18 which, quite coincidentally is her Daddy's birthday too.
She was beautiful. She was perfect. And I was happy because I had had my baby.
